For five generations, the Gledhill family has been growing grapes in Australia. In keeping with the robust wines produced from the estate vineyard in Coomealla, this 2022 McLaren Vale Shiraz lives up to the house style of intense inky but vibrant colour, expressive aromas and bold flavours.
Harvested from the Minchella family vineyard in the heart of McLaren Vale, the fruit underwent a 96 hour cold soak, before fermentation in two small open fermenters, each with a different hybrid yeast strain, Fusion and Uvamax and multiple hand plunging daily until pressing.
Long and slow pressing to french oak barrels to finish malo-lactic fermentation, followed by a further 18 months in oak to integrate aroma, flavour and balance.
The wine exhibits a deep and vibrant crimson hue, intense dark berry fruits, some sweet spice and a touch of dark chocolate filling the palate, balanced with soft but noticeable tannins and a fresh and long finish.
